Emerson Debuts at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Black and White

The spring 2012 Emerson collection was inspired by the contrast of darkness and light, says designer Jackie Fraser-Swan. "Life can throw us a curve ball from time to time," she says, "and it's up to us to decide whether to go down the road to darkness or to focus on the light at the end of the tunnel."

To that end, Fraser-Swan presented a 27-look collection—her first at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week—of gentle, simple silhouettes in polite black, white, and grey prints. Check out six of our favorite looks, above. We also got a sneak peek backstage at the handiwork of the hair and makeup team from Elizabeth Arden's Red Door Spas.
