With seating more social than a cocktail party and big name support like Anna Wintour, Valentino Garavani, Oscar de la Renta, Rachel Zoe and many, many more, Diane von Furstenberg presented a successful 49-look show on Sunday afternoon.
The collection was full of a mixture of brights and pastels in mod florals, eye-catching graphic textiles and detailed embellishments that we could easily imagine on a wide range of young fashionable starlets at a variety of events. Her strong silhouettes and effortlessly cool mixes, as well as a great collection of clutches and canvas/leather backpacks had nearby DVF employees uttering "stunning" nearly every other look. We agree, as did the entire room judging by the roar of applause that erupted during the final walk.
As the lights re-lit after the final walk, on came sultry 60s song, "Feeling Good" and out strutted the designer clutching handfuls of American flags with creative director, Yvan Mispelaere. As lyrics played "It's a new dawn/It's a new day/It's a new life...", Furstenberg hugged fellow designer Valentino and proceeded to take a full lap in the theater, handing out flags to front-row friends.—Payton Wang
