It may all seem like glamour and roses from the outset, but the fact is that fashion week is really hard work. With more than 300 shows on schedule spread over seven days, models, designers, venue staff, publicists, organizers, producers, journalists, and anyone else working this week have basically been body-slammed by spring 2012.
For top models, fashion week is especially difficult—they run from show to show, get scrubbed down with chemicals before being spackled up again, have their hair heated, dried, curled, gelled, waxed, and crimped to shreds, and, oftentimes, don't have enough time to sleep or eat all week long. By day six or seven, so many models have broken out into rashes and their eyes won't stop watering—remember, most of these models are young girls—because their skin and body have, after a week, started to reject makeup and hairspray. It's actually pretty scary.
So we weren't surprised to hear from a Racked tipster that yesterday morning at the Vera Wang show, it all came to a head when model Arizona Muse fainted backstage. Here she is in the pre-show run-through sporting a bloody knee—though we're not sure if the wound is related to her faint. Muse was fine, however, and wound up walking in the show, closing the spring season in a gorgeous silk print gown, bloody knee and everything. In unrelated rumormongering, we also heard early on in the week that someone had a seizure backstage at Suno.
