Last night, after all of the spring 2012 Fashion Week shows had finished up, we traveled back in time (well sort of) to see DKNY's resort collection at Lincoln Center. Donna Karan herself was on-hand at the Amex Cardmembers-Only event, which we found out is pretty different from regular fashion shows for us plain ol' industry folk. There were cocktails! There were cocktail dresses! And there was singer Lykke Li, who performed during the entire runway show.
The collection featured a lot of silky tops, sequined minis, and Karan's two favorite colors: black and red. "Red is always black to me. There's no difference between black and red," she told the crowd before the show began, which was also a new experience for us—to have the designer there, talking. And she was clad in—guess what?—all black. We wonder what one of her granddaughters had to say about her outfit, as Karan also told the crowd that she had recently asked her, "Grandma, do you like any other color besides black?" Oh, so much to learn. For an idea of what will be hitting stores very soon for resort, take a peek at a few looks after the jump.
