Paul McCartney collaborated with his designing daughter Stella McCartney—he composed the score and she designed the costumes—for Ocean's Kingdom, a ballet that is currently on at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center in New York.
"I put together some music which I thought would be good to dance to, and explored that trail," Paul told the BBC. "I've brought my ideas about what a good night out at the ballet should be. I ask myself what I'd want to see and try to paint that picture musically."
As for Stella, she says she's excited about working on a ballet—and with her father. "There's two sides to it," she told the BBC. "One side is I'm working with my dad for the first time on a really important project, so you have that emotion - feeling very proud. Then there's the other side where you think to yourself, 'I'm working with Paul McCartney'. It's a funny thing."
