Our nail polish worldviews have been totally rocked in the last few months by the arrivals of super-high-tech new varnishes like OPI’s crackle-effect topcoat and In the Mood’s color-changers. And now, London newcomer Nails Inc. have upped the nail art ante with the introduction of its super-cool Magnetic Polish—a set of three nail colors ($30 at Sephora) that are imbued with metallic particles which respond and move when held near magnets.
So here’s how it works: apply your base and first coat. Then, after applying a second coat, before it dries, hold the magnetized nail polish bottlecap over your fingernail for 10 to 15 seconds. The magnet will shift the metallic particles in the polish to create this gorgeous 3D wave effect. Experiment with different angles to create new looks.
Nails Inc.’s Magnetic Polish comes in three different shades: “Big Ben,” a metallic gold; “Trafalgar Square,” a metallic silver; and “Houses of Parliament,” a metallic purple. They’re priced at $16 or $30 for the set exclusively at Sephora.
