Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Masters of asymmetrical layering Nicholas K—brother-sister team Nicholas Kunz and Christopher Kunz (An ex male model! We love male models!)—presented a spring 2012 collection that didn't stray far from the label's cool-yet-comfortable aesthetic. Infinity sweaters, cropped soft leather jackets, baby-soft jersey tops and bottoms, topped off with a hint of shimmer or a signature shawl-collar—the collection's cream, beige, green, and grey palette get nature-inspired monikers in the run of show: barnacle, sponge, sand, algae, kelp, and shark. No surprise that the duo behind Nicholas K are nature-lovers—the collection blends outdoorsy inspiration with a smart urban sensibility.
