And we thought the Victoria Secret people had already done everything that can be done to a bustier. Until Styleite pointed our attention to this amazing Etsy find, that is. A hybrid alligator head-fur contraption, the lingerie is not only functional, it's intended to make a statement about the use of animal materials in fashion.
Says the garment's creator:
Participating in the Righteous Fur Movement, I am working with nutria pelts as a way to utilize more of the animal. Nutria is a non-native species to the United States and is eating away at the plants that support the coastal wetlands in South Louisiana. They became overpopulated in the 1980's after the fur market took a nose dive and since 2002, nutria have been caught for a bounty. Nutria fur is an environmentally friendly way to wear fur. The Righteous Fur Movement encourages the use of more of the animal: pelts for fashion and teeth for jewelry.
Now you know.
