Avril Lavigne's Nail Line for Sally Hansen Definitely Includes Skulls, Stars, and Sparkles

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

This morning, WWD announced that Avril Lavigne is teaming up with Sally Hansen on a line of 12 nail polish strips, which will be launching globally in April. Similar to the pop-punk mall look that Avril has been pushing since 2002, the nail strips will include skulls, leopard print, sparkles, and stars. It's worth mentioning, despite all evidence to the contrary, that Avril is, in fact, 27 years old. WWD spoke with her over the phone, and judging by the amount of times that she said the word "super," we're imagining that her phone is the same one that was sold with the Dream Phone board game.

This is pretty much the coolest thing, because I also do clothing—I love clothing, nails and fragrance, hair, makeup, all that stuff. I was really excited about the Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips—especially since they're superquick. You clean your nails, peel the strips and apply them, file and go. I'm superfast at it, so it takes me like five minutes to do my nails. And it's supercool because the designs that I came up with are my personal style and vibe—they're rock 'n' roll and fun and bright and colorful. You have sparkles and little stars—they are cute. For me, I'll be flying on a plane and be like, 'Sh--, I need to do my nails.' I can do these on a plane; I've done them in the car.

If you're still with us, each kit will retail for $9.99 and include 16 nail strips, a cuticle stick, a mini-nail file, a buffer, and instructions.
