In an interview with Slate, Simon Doonan explains why he's not into bleach blonde hair and spray tans. He explains that he dislikes "porno chic" not because he's a prude—heavens no—but because of its conformist appeal. "If you glue a ton of fake blonde hair and spray tan, and then put on some porno shoes and a tight dress, um yea you're gonna look kind of like you work in 'the industry,' but you're also gonna look like every other tart on TV."
