The long awaited Project Runway All Stars premieres this Thursday on Lifetime—and the buzz is good. We hear this is a very fun season (Miss Piggy as a guest judge!), with talented designers creating great designs—a welcome antidote to last season's less than stellar ones. In anticipation of the season, we've put this little refresher together for you.
We'll get to which designers are returning in a second, but first, let's meet the new judges. We've got Isaac Mizrahi, who never met a fashion reality show he didn't want to be on. Joining Isaac in the judging chairs will be Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman, who has a teeny tiny connection to one of the show's producers. We've also got a new host, model Angela Lindvall. And oddly enough, in the Tim Gunn role, they've cast Marie Claire's Joanna Coles. We've loved Joanna's witty sharp-tongued commentary every time she's been a Project Runway guest judge, so we're hoping she won't be too nice in her new role as mentor.
Onto the designers. There are thirteen returnees, designers from every season except for Three (alas, we'd have loved to see Laura Bennett or Mychael Knight). If we were betting, we'd put our money on the seeming front runners: Season Eight's Mondo Guerra, Season Two's Kara Janx, Season Four's Rami Kashou or Season One's Austin Scarlett.
Giving them a possible run for Lifetime's money, are Season Eight's April Johnston, who created one of our all time favorite decoy collections, and Season Six's Gordana Gehlhausen, who might flourish outside of the shadow of Heidi's loathing of her. Other returnees include Season Four's Elisa Jimenez, Season Five's Jerell Scott, Season Eight's Michael Costello, Season Four's Sweet P, and Season Seven's Mila Hermanovski and Anthony Williams.
If you're looking for controversy, not to worry. Season Five's problem child, Kenley Collins is returning as well. We can't wait...
