Coming Soon: A Bra That Tells You If There's a Lump In Your Breast?

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Forget mammograms - soon, the only thing you might need to do breast self-exams is a new bra. A company called First Warning Systems has developed a sports bra that regularly monitors your boobs' temperature and density in order to spot any unusual changes. The bra is also packed full of sensors that will be able to detect a lump. Unfortunately, the bra does not yell "OMG YOU HAVE A LUMP!" at you - instead, it'll just suggest you go to your doctor and get checked out.

The bra is expected to launch sometime next year. No word on whether it'll come in pink.
