Nothing like a reliably-sourced rumor in the morning: Cathy Horyn wrote this morning that Alexander Wang is one formal announcement away from snagging the Balenciaga job that's been up for grabs since Nicolas Ghesquiere announced his departure. Per Horyn's New York Times blog entry:
In the continuing Balenciaga drama, Alexander Wang appears to be the leading candidate to succeed the star designer Nicolas Ghesquière, and an announcement of his appointment could be made as early as next week, a Paris source with knowledge of the discussions said on Wednesday night. She adds that "the choice of a designer like Mr. Wang...certainly suggests a different direction for Balenciaga." That's putting it mildly, maybe, but it would mark the first luxury digs that Kristen Stewart could look comfortable in.
