Does Daryl K's Collection for Urban Outfitters Signal a Return of Her Brand?

New, 3 comments

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Urban Outfitters just announced that designer Daryl K will be doing a 7-piece collection for them later this month. The collection is priced between $59 and $139 and will feature "an animal-print Intarsia sweater, knit mesh sequin dress, burnout bomber jacket, faux leather skinny pants, raw hem tunic, silk shirt and a printed military jacket." We're going to assume that those are the skinnies, silk shirt, and bomber in the photo here.

In March of this year, Daryl K (it's short for Kerrigan) closed down her NYC store and said she was "taking a break from retail for the time being." Since then, her website has had a "News about where to buy Daryl K coming soon - watch this space" message posted on it. Does this collab with Urban mean that she's coming out of retirement for good, or is it just a fun one-off project?
