Kate Spade's New Lower Priced Line Looks a Lot Like J.Crew, No?

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Kate Spade's lower-priced Saturday line is scheduled to debut this spring, but WWD got a sneak peek of the brand's pre-fall line. From the looks of it, the offerings are heavy on classic silhouettes in fashion-forward prints, pops of color, shrunken blazers—in fact, if the model were wearing orangey-red lipstick, we'd say it looked a lot like J.Crew. Which makes sense, since both brands have strong nouveau prep roots and an unparalleled love of color blocking.

Check it out for yourselves in the gallery above, and head here to meet the team behind the line—the chic girls and guy over there modeled some of their yet-to-launch finery for our Working It series earlier this month.
