Firing up Facebook today, What's Your Nude wants you to email your bra maker and tell them to expand their range of nude bras. According to the press release, the movement is the brainchild of Tara Raines, an African-American psychologist who decided to launch the campaign after learning that family members and friends have been hand-dying tan and blush-colored bras brown for decades.
We checked out Victoria's Secret—an arbitrary choice of bra makers, but they were foremost in our minds, considering this recent spectacle. If you search for "nude" on the brand's website, first you will be pummeled by an avalanche of suntanned cleavage, and then you will notice that, in fact, the skin-toned bras seem to come in basically one color, that being the shade of mid-August tan of this blond model.
At Macys.com, when attempting to search by color family, "tan/beige" is an option, but "brown" is not.
Which is some bull shit, basically.
If you'd like to participate, email your bra-maker today (Victoria's Secret email address is here) to ask for more variety. You can also follow the campaign on Facebook and Twitter, and tweet using the #WhatsYourNude hashtag.
