Often when you're backstage at a fashion show or on set at a shoot, you'll hear a specific person mentioned as a reference point for the beauty look ("Marilyn lips" or "Bianca Jagger hair"), but not when Orlando Pita is in charge. The hair guru said that there was no particular inspiration for his styling at J.Mendel. Instead, he was creating a bouncy, sexy, minimal-fuss look that a regular woman could rock. Considering that one of the models backstage was the super-recognizable Lindsey Wixson, looking like a "regular woman" was no small feat. He accomplished the look with Phyto products and T-3 styling tools from Beauty.com. The makeup looks followed suit. A team from Haven Spa used two coats of Essie's sheer pink classic Mademoiselle shade on the models' nails and didn't even bother with a bottom coat. The Maybelline lips were similarly muted, letting gorgeous (and famous) faces shine through.
