For fall 2012, Phillip Lim appears to be really into the idea of black-and-white outfits, as well as replicating the Miracle Dress phenomenon that has gripped the nation universe. His collection was pretty moody and also really, really smokey. (See the above photos for evidence of a very intense smoke machine.) We saw structured and sharp blazers, dresses, and pants, several with slimming side-panels à la Stella McCartney. While we prefer Lim when he's a little brighter—we're still wearing the shit out of spring 2009—it's undeniable that the collection was filled with sophisticate basics. Plus, as overly enthusiastic Ryan Gosling fans (hey girl), we commend him for setting the show to A Real Hero from the Drive soundtrack.
