In a perfect marriage of old preppy and new preppy, girly sweet women's brand Milly has joined forces with heritage shoemaker Sperry Top-Sider to produce a limited edition capsule of the most cheerful boat shoes the world has ever seen. Out this spring, the women’s collection includes 13 styles, including top-sider platforms (not recommended for actual dock-walking) featuring Milly’s signature prints and bright colors. There are also sandals, sneakers, and ankle-wrap wedges that take a cue from Milly handbags: look for ropes, gold metallic laces, and charms.
In terms of the two companies coming together, it's basically a big love fest. Milly founder Michelle Smith says she has always, "adored preppy, nautical style, and was thrilled to put the Milly spin on an icon of American fashion.” And the feeling is mutual: “We love Michelle Smith’s combination of modern, sexy, feminine details, and are excited by her fresh take on our American heritage” says Sperry's Michelle Poole. Prices for the women's line range from $90 to $225 and will be available in the next week or so at Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, and the Milly and Sperry Topsider websites.
