Now that the dust has settled on New York Fashion Week, we're catching up with our favorite online shopping destinations to see what trends and pieces from the Fall 2012 runways we can expect to find on their sites next season. First up, flash sale stalwart Gilt Groupe. Gilt's Editorial Director Melissa Liebling-Goldberg spent fashion week running to and from shows (stopping to be photographed by a street style photographer once in a while, of course) and reporting back to the team with her favorite runway finds. Below, she tells us which trends caught her eye.
Racked: Out of hundreds of designers presenting at fashion week, how to you choose which runway shows to attend?
Melissa Liebling-Goldberg: I choose the brands that excite and inspire me! I always want to see the most directional shows, but seeing shows filled with clothing that could walk off the runway into real life is inspirational, too. We always want to balance being ahead of the curve with fulfilling the every day needs and wants of our members.
Racked: As Editorial Director, how to you influence the clothes and brands that appear on Gilt?
Melissa Liebling-Goldberg: Along with our Style Director, I create a trend report each season that we present to the teams. We work with the buyers to decide which trends we want to align around, and then spend the next six months putting together a really amazing day of trend sales to kick off the season.

Racked: What trends for Fall 2012 have you got your eye on?
Melissa Liebling-Goldberg: The moody and sensual color palette is so clear to me for Fall 2012: navy, plum, maroon, charcoal, winter white, and that amazing tomato red that popped up everywhere. I love the menswear influences in suiting, the urban warrior/Girl with a Dragon Tattoo look with tons of leather and black, and the emphasis on tailored outerwear (all those beautiful long belted coats and perfect pea coats).
Racked: This Fashion Week, did you have an ah-ha moment with a particular designer or a particular garment?
Melissa Liebling-Goldberg: I loved the whole Donna Karan show—it's running in a loop in my mind. But I think my standout piece is one particular dress in the show. It's a gray strapless wool dress with insets of see-through fabric scattered with sequins. It was sophisticated, sexy, and on-trend with just the right element of fantasy. It's everything I'd like out of a piece of clothing.
Racked: Any new designers we should expect to see on Gilt as a result of the past week?
Melissa Liebling-Goldberg: I have to keep my lips sealed for now—a girl has to have her secrets! But I think we're going to have an absolutely incredible lineup come next September. I cannot wait for our fall trends already!
