This week, we take you to the New York City headquarters of DailyCandy. The site covers deals, insider tips, and pertinent fashion, beauty, dining, and travel information for an array of cities: everywhere from New York to Washington D.C. to Miami and more. That's a lot of ground to cover, so you can bet that the team behind it has picked up some solid style tricks to incorporate into their day-to-day work outfits.
Tiffany Davis (above), Everywhere Editor, DailyCandy: I'm eclectic but not in a crunchy way. Getting dressed should be fun: I walk over to the mirror and decide who I want to be that day. I'll commit to Chuck Taylors, a skull cap, and Warby Parker glasses on Monday, then hiking boots and a tartan prairie dress on Tuesday —if I think I can pull it off. (And even if I'm not totally sure I can pull it off.)
Style advice: If you see someone wearing something interesting, don't ever resist the urge to ask them about it. Yes, it's my job to ask, but people love it.
Tiffany is wearing a vintage jumper and scarf from Zachary's Smile, Zara boots, gold pyramid earrings from Madewell, a Bulova watch from her mom, and Warby Parker Crosby glasses.
Larkin Clark (above), Editor, DailyCandy Deals: Whatever I'm wearing, it usually involves bold lips and big hair. I hate "doing" my hair, and this twisted bouffant only takes two minutes (seriously). Vintage silhouettes work best on my body type, so my closet is packed with old-school pieces (high-waisted trousers, delicate blouses). I also play with opposites, like a ball skirt with a laid-back top or a structured blazer with slouchy pants.
Style advice: Follow your gut. Trends can be great inspiration, but wear only things you truly feel comfortable in, those that complement your personality and make you feel good about yourself. And don't overthink it: If you feel like wearing sweats to the office, find a way to do it. Be bold, get creative, and, most importantly, work it.
Larkin is wearing a vintage Carole Little top from Village Style in the East Village, a Mason skirt, a vintage belt, Zara booties, bangles from Kate Spade, BaubleBar, and Alex and Ani, and a ring by Silva/Bradshaw.
Andrew Grosso (above), Director of Internal Products, DailyCandy: I've more or less worn the same two outfits since I was 14: jeans, plaid shirts, and Chuck Taylors on casual days; corduroys, gingham shirts, and bucs on days when I have to look slightly presentable. The only difference two decades later is the color palette has expanded. It's less that I'm determined to stick with an aesthetic and more that I'm not the best decider of things before 8am. So having limited options makes it easier for me to get out of the apartment. And patterned shirts last a year or two longer.
Style advice: If you have to go shopping for clothes, take someone else with you (preferably someone patient, who cares about you, and who has a better sense of style than you), and don't buy anything unless you both really, really like it. Then buy it in every color. That way your co-workers won't realize you only wear two outfits. Also, don't eat lunch at your desk. It's a surefire way to ruin your favorite outfits.
Andrew is wearing Jean Shop jeans, a Michael Andrews gingham shirt, Mark McNairy saddle bucs, J.Crew socks, a Timex watch, and a Barneys sweater.
Alexander Eissing (above), Creative Director, DailyCandy: I don't usually go around naming my style, but since you're making me, let's go with business casual with an urban edge. I like slim fit clothing, pops of color and combining classics with distinctive, one-of-a-kind items. I don't take fashion or brands too seriously, but I do care about quality, feeling comfortable in what I wear, and always trying out new things.
Style advice: The only advice I can give is: Take care of yourself and make a conscious decision about what you represent. Express yourself with what you wear; make an effort, stand out with your personal style, be interesting, dare to be creative, and give the world an opportunity to notice you. How boring would it be if everyone looked the same?
Alexander is wearing a tailored shirt, a J.Crew herringbone jacket and dark washed jeans, a Uniqlo cashmere cardigan, a Bloomingdales handkerchief, Ben Sherman shoes, and a Tod's bracelet.
SuChin Pak (above), DailyCandy Correspondent: I like to mix and match high and low or designer with indie—it makes every outfit more "you."
Style advice: Steer clear of anything too matchy-matchy. Take a risk with something you think may be a little "off," rather than play it mannequin safe. And snapping a quick picture of your outfit before you walk out the door is a great way to see something you missed in the mirror.
SuChin is wearing J.Crew earrings, a BCBG dress, Jeffrey Campbell shoes, and a YSL belt.
Rebecca Blum (above), Senior Manager, Sales Development, DailyCandy: Casual and comfortable, but with an element of professionalism. I'm mostly preppy (I have a monogrammed iPhone case), but I mix it up with hobo chic accents here and there. I tend to splurge on staple items that won't go out of style and then accessorize with bolder, trendier pieces from more reasonable labels.
Style advice: I almost never wear heels. My best advice is to go with flats, platforms, or wedges. I love to walk and hate not wanting to because I'm not comfortable. I wore sparkly gold flats from French Sole during my wedding (the entire time) and no one knew. It was the best.
Rebecca is wearing Club Monaco jeans and a navy blazer, a J.Crew silk shirt, a Michael Kors watch, a Topshop necklace, a Charm & Chain bracelet, and Very Volatile boots.
