Comedy writer Bonnie Datt once bought a chainmail vest "for clubbing"—a purchase she later came to lament, once she realized that chainmail wasn't particularly slimming. Inspired by this, she now spends her spare time asking famous people to dish about purchases which they initially loved—but ended up regretting, for Buyer's Remorse.

NBC's new drama Smash, about the creation of a Broadway musical, is one of the most buzzed about shows of the year. While there are some huge names in the cast, including Oscar-winner and former Buyer's Remorse subject Anjelica Huston and Emmy-winner Debra Messing, it's Megan Hilty, a relative newcomer to the screen, who is stealing the show. Megan, however, is no stranger to the scene. She's already starred as Glinda in Wicked and Doralee Rhodes in 9 to 5: The Musical.
We spoke to the Megan recently and asked the actress if she'd ever had Buyer's Remorse. It turns out she regrets buying something we've gotten more complaints about than anything else: you guessed it—shoes.
Megan Hilty: I think the biggest disappointment for me was buying shoes for their look without trying them on. I'm a huge fan of shoes, but I'm a huge fan of comfort as well. I don't want to feel like I'm going to have to do a little awkward dance because my shoes don't fit. So I think that was the worst purchase, buying something just because it looks amazing.
Racked: Can you tell us whose shoes they were?
Megan Hilty: I don't want to call anybody out—but they had a lot of sequins.
Racked: And they were high?
Megan Hilty: Well, high I can do. It's the platform. I need a little bit of something there to break the angle.
