On February 11, Nike will be dropping a 2012 Black History Month shoe and apparel collection in stores and online, and though geared mostly towards the sneaker-loving dude, there's also a cute pair of girl kicks in the collection. For the ladies in apparel: a women's Destroyer jacket ($500) and and t-shirt ($35), which have a nice mix of downtown style and sporty edge. We spoke with Nike, who told us the collection was inspired by three important teams in sports history: the 1996 USA women’s basketball team, the 2002 Brazil men’s soccer team, and the 2008 Kenyan long-distance running team. Those bright colors you see there in the detailing come from Kenyan beads, Brazilian Carnivale, and African-American quilt making. We're pretty sure the '96 basketball team would approve.
