Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Designer Rachel Roy is embracing the little-known National Day of Unplugging, which begins today at sunset, and encouraging her staff to do the same. “I have urged them to stop the e-mailing, texting, tweeting and Facebooking for one day to notice the world around them. This will allow them to bring some balance to their increasingly fast-paced way of life and make time to connect with family, friends, the community and themselves!” she told WWD. On the other hand, they could also use all that free time to participate in National Spring Cleaning Week, the other made-up holiday happening this weekend.
