Bebe surprised more than a few people back in December when the brand announced that it would be doing a bridal line—after all, it's a store better known for body-con minidresses than than virginal gowns. So there was a certain amount of speculation on just what Bebe bridal would look like. The wait is over, however, because now the collection has arrived online and in four flagships (Chicago, New York, Florida, and Beverly Hills) in all its glory.
With draper extraordinaire Rami Kashou on board to design the line, customers appear to be responsive. “On Facebook, we’ve never had a bigger response to any item or launch,” Bebe Stores Inc. president Emilia Fabricant told WWD. “There were 17,000 likes on Facebook within the first 48 hours, 700 shares and 400 comments."
True to Bebe's nightclub-friendly roots, at least one of the wedding dresses (the $289 ruffled mini shown here) is more evening than evening. But several of the gowns are perfectly appropriate for a wedding taking place outside of Las Vegas, and one of them is downright demure, with a full circle skirt and pretty, KMid-style lace sleeves.
But don't worry about the collection being too buttoned up. In addition to wedding gowns, there is also a line of bridesmaid dresses, where you can find those signature Bebe form-fitting silhouettes and mini lengths. And beyond the actual wedding ceremony, Bebe logo sweatshirts with the words ‘bride’ and ‘bridesmaid’ embroidered in rhinestones are to be had for $98, and bebe.com offers a curated selection of outfit suggestions for your bachelorette party that features plenty of less-than virginal options. Flip through the entire collection of bridal gowns (plus a few of the bridesmaid looks) in the gallery above, or click on over to Bebe's new bridal boutique to browse or shop.
