For the second time in a month, J.Crew is having trouble getting their collaboration story straight. Over the past five years, Jenna Lyons has famously pushed J.Crew into onto the fringes of high fashion with designer collections by the likes of Prabal Gurung, Lulu Frost, and most recently Manolo Blahnik, who designed shoes for the brand's Fall 2012 line. And today, Fashionista is reporting that the brand's latest designer capsule will be with CFDA/Vogue Fund winner Joseph Altuzarra: “So we worked on a collaboration, which I think will be coming out in a few weeks,” he told Fashionista from the red carpet at the Jeffrey Fashion Cares event last night. But J.Crew has been mum on the topic—which makes us think the brand is none too pleased that the story is out.
It's possible Altuzarra just slipped up and blew the lid off of a press exclusive. But as it's the second time in a month that there has been screwy press around a J.Crew collab—remember how Manolo Blahnik had no idea he was doing one? that was weird—it makes us wonder what's up over there at J.Crew headquarters.
