Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
In honor of Beauty week we rounded up the most indulgent and/or super strange spa treatments in Racked cities around the country. Feast your eyes on the pampering:
NEW YORK—In keeping with Donald Trump's personal philosophy, when things at the Spa at Trump are already luxurious, just add some precious stones. There, you can get a gemstone massage using oils infused with diamonds, emeralds, rubies, and sapphires. The price? Unlisted.
LOS ANGELES— At the Beverly Hills Hotel Spa by La Prairie, you are invited to luxuriate while two therapists exfoliate your entire body, then wrap it up, then perform a 60-minute "Caviar" massage for $500. We not entirely sure what that means, but it sounds delicious.
CHICAGO—If you're in it for the long haul, enjoy a 4.5 hour massage at the The Spa Peninsula by ESPA for $630. You get an Uplifting Mint Experience, Intensive Facial, a Reflex Zone foot massage, and a sense of self-worth.
