Raf Simons has touched down in Paris to begin work on his first winter couture show for Dior amid a deluge of conversation surrounding his minimalist aesthetic, Dior's heritage, and the canyon of difference between the two. Simons, however, is more apt to draw from the similarities: Like plants, for example. He tells WWD that both he and the French house's founder were really into outdoorsy activities. He's also into the midcentury period, during which Christian Dior made his name. The long and short of it is, as he tells WWD, “I wouldn’t go to that place if I only had minimalism in mind. I’m very aware of what the environment is about.”
