Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Dip-dye hair isn't an easy trend to pull off (ombre, after all, is similar and a lot more subtle) but that doesn't mean that Prada's fall 2012 runway hair isn't already taking the world (and the internet) by storm. It's popping up in lookbooks, editorials, and where it matters most: on street style blogs and celebrities.

Two recent looks from Opening Ceremony's site

Case in point: Opening Ceremony's website, which includes product shots of a model sporting the exact same Prada hair (brown with red-orange tips) in more than a few looks. (Like, here, here, and here).

As far as the famous go, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and Nicki Minaj are no-brainer dip-dyers so we're not even going to attempt to catalog their numerous colored tips. (Hint: Google it.) Other less-ubiquitous trend-followers include celebrity teenagers, like Dakota Fanning and Miley Cyrus and grownups Kate Bosworth and Jaime King.

And since that basically constitutes proof that soon we will all have pink tips, we've put together a dip-dye inspiration board over on Pinterest. Got any pin-worthy images of your own? Send us the link via the tip line and we'll put 'em up!
