Downton Abbey has been making its mark on fashion since it debuted on this side of the Atlantic a year ago, but when it comes to beauty, there's nothing on set that can rival the influence of Lady Mary and her supersonic eyebrows. So, naturally, the question on every Downton Abbey enthusiast's mind is how do they stay so perfectly arched throughout Lady Mary's ups and downs? Too bad you can't interview a pair of eyebrows. Or can you?
What are your secrets for staying so shapely?
Let's see. We do our exercises during the hours spent getting dressed: Up while questioning lady Sybil's wardrobe choices (really Sybil? Harem pants?), down while torturing Lady Edith. Up while filling Anna in on my intimate secrets, down while mother is being cross, and so on and so forth. Furrowing earnestly in cousin Matthew's general direction also keeps us in tip top shape.
You're well known for your expressive range. Tell us, is there any emotion you DON'T do?
Come war, come hard labor (heaven forbid), come nosy accusations of a certain Turkish gentleman cold in your bed, you shan't see these 'brows break a sweat.
Cocked or furrowed?
Goodness! A lady's eyebrow never tells.
Shirley McLaine is joining the cast of Downton for season three. How will that affect your position?
Disbelief at Granny's American daftness will push us arches to new heights, we expect.
Tweezed or waxed?
Oh darling, we just come this way. It's the outgrowth of good breeding and freshly hunted venison.
