Elizabeth Banks Is Starting a Letter-Writing Campaign to Get Effie Trinket's McQueen Shoes

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

The oh-so-adorable Elizabeth Banks has been vlogging for Lucky about The Hunger Games, which opened last weekend to huge numbers. (In case you've somehow missed the HG frenzy, Banks' character, Effie Trinket, is the series' resident post-apocalyptic fashionista, rocking pastel hair and insane outfits.) When a reader recently asked which of Effie's crazy costumes Banks would want to keep, she mentioned a pair of gold be-winged Alexander McQueen shoes that are currently in storage, and said she had considered starting a letter-writing campaign to get them out of the costume trunks and into her own hands. HG diehards, you know what that means: time to get a petition going.
