Now that anti-Semitism-spouting John Galliano is no longer with Dior, company face Natalie Portman is officially back on promotion duty. First, she wore a strapless polka-dotted vintage (aka, not designed by Galliano) Dior at the Oscars. Then, the brand decided to do a special lipstick whose sales would benefit a charity, and they asked Portman to choose the lucky shade. The color, Rouge Dior's Nude Grege, will be out this fall, and proceeds will benefit Free the Children.
Unlike some celebrities, however, Portman isn't pretending that she invented or designed the color, just that she liked it. When asked why she picked it, Portman said she chose based on the shade's number: 169. "Six is the month that my whole family was born in—everyone was born in June. We're all June babies," she said. "Nine is a magic number, and one is my son—his name is 'one' in Hebrew, Aleph." Wait, nine being a magic number sounds like something from Kabbalah (the real kind, not the Hollywood kind). How long before Dior gets in the red string bracelet business?
