Comedy writer Bonnie Datt once bought a chainmail vest "for clubbing"—a purchase she later came to lament, once she realized that chainmail wasn't particularly slimming. Inspired by this, she now spends her spare time asking famous people to dish about purchases which they initially loved—but ended up regretting, for Buyer's Remorse.

As we head towards Fashion Star's finale tomorrow, we've been thinking about what changes we'd like to see the producers implement next season (yes, it was just renewed by NBC). We would like a clearer explanation of the rules and fewer pyrotechnics. The things we don't want them to switch are the buyers—Particularly H&M's Nicole Christie. Nicole, a Columbia graduate, has been working for H&M since their first US store opened in Manhattan. She started as a store manager, moved onto being a buyer and now works as the company's head of Communications for North America. Since the main thrust of a buyer's job is to make savvy choices, we were particularly interested in learning if Nicole had any incidents of Buyer's Remorse in her personal life.
Racked: Can you tell us about a time you had Buyer's Remorse in your personal life?
Nicole Christie: I do have one and I actually picked it out of my closet the other day—and I can't believe I'm saying this. It was a diamond quilted cognac leather blazer from Banana Republic—they had this heritage, high-end line. I found it in the back of my closet the other day and I thought to myself, "What were you thinking?" It looks like an old man's smoking jacket mixed with a couch in someone's basement. It was a '70s nightmare and I literally said to myself, "I wish I had that money back." We all go through that. I thought I would be the hottest thing in this and then it's like, "Ooohhhh."
