Celebrities converged in Manhattan last night to celebrate the launch of The Shops at Target, the mega-store’s latest collaboration project. As you probably recall, The Shops at Target is bringing collections from five mom-and-pop boutiques across the country into the chain's stores nationwide. Will it be a success? Well, last night's launch party brought together '90s ballad band Wilson Phillips and Brooklyn rapper Theophilus London—if Target can pull that collaboration off, we're willing to believe in anything.
The Shops, which launch on Sunday May 6, expand on Target's tried-and-true collab forumla of high-end merchandise at low-end prices, taking it beyond the realm of fashion and into home décor, pet supplies, beauty products, and even candy. The celebrities who demonstrated their excitement for all this by attending last night's launch include January Jones, Emma Roberts, Leelee Sobieski, and fashion model Hilary Rhoda. Actress Constance Zimmer summed it up when asked what she's most excited about buying: "The candy," she said, smiling. "It's the little things in life that make me happy."—Mallory Farrugia
