Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Marchesa has confirmed the vague rumor circulated by WWD back in mid-April: The brand, which has made its name in red-carpet fare and big-time wedding gowns, will partner with LF USA to launch a lower-priced contemporary line. How much lower? Possibly $150 to $750. Designer Georgina Chapman told WWD, “We have been very specific for eveningwear so far. We always had this dream Marchesa could transcend into all different areas of lifestyle.”

You can expect Marchesa signature prints and even embroidery for both daywear and accessories, but don't expect it any time soon: The launch date is set for pre-fall 2013.
