Having been burned by Manolo collab rumors in the past, the world should know better than to get too excited about fire-starting gossip in that department. But banking that we'll all go against our better judgement and freak out anyway, Monique Lhuillier went ahead and posted a photo of a pair of printed Manolo pumps on the brand's Facebook page, along with the ambiguous caption, "Have you seen our new Monique Lhuillier for Manolo Blahnik shoes?"
Now, this could mean that there's a collab in the works. But like that ill-fated J.Crew, er, incident, it could also mean that the brands are partnering for shoes that will be used for the runway or for samples only.
This is what Blahnik himself had to say on the possibility of a collaboration back in February: "I have been approached so many times to do [a collaboration], but I don't want to work for a big company where I'll have to have lots of meetings where I'm told what I can and can't do."
Granted, Monique Lhuillier is not exactly a "big company," and it is likely they won't force Mr. Blahnik to sit through too many meetings, but we're going to wait for confirmation before getting too excited, anyway. But don't let us stop you. Speculate away in the comments.
