As previously reported, Kohl's is jumping on the collaboration bandwagon with their new DesigNation initiative, and kicking it off is none other than Narciso Rodriquez. Known for his love of minimalism, modernism, and Gloria Estafan (she sat in front of us during his Fall 2012 show, it was awesome), the designer has gone in a different direction for his Kohl's capsule—specifically, the direction of Istanbul.
DesigNation is attempting to differentiate itself from every other high-low collab under the sun with a travel theme: Each designer they work with will voyage to a city of their choice to find inspiration for the monthlong capsule collection.
"It was a really interesting idea to travel somewhere you had never been to before, and get your inspiration from a place that wouldn't normally be in your comfort zone, bring that back and turn it into a collection," Rodriguez told WWD. "I was completely inspired by the people, the city and all the different cultures." He was also inspired by Isanbul's rugs, apparently, basing the abstract prints for the collection on carpets he discovered on the trip.
The collection, which drops in November, will feature outerwear, tops, dresses, and knits, will be priced at a budget-friendly $30 to $150.
