There is such a thing as a "manly" city, apparently, and chances are if you live in a Southern or Midwestern metropolis, your home is one of them. "Best Cities In America" researcher Bert Sperling teamed up with Combos (of the aspirationally macho snack food) to rank the country's urban centers on the grounds of manliness, and have come up with a top 50.
How do you rate manliness, you ask? You give points for professional sports teams, monster truck rallies, registered full-size pickup trucks, steak houses, sports bars, and the percentage of households subscribing to man-gazines (Maxim, Playboy, Popular Mechanics, you get it.) You get points taken away for foreign-made cars, cafes and coffee shops, "modern" male apparel stores, and per household subscriptions to girlie magazines like Martha Stewart Living and Vogue. New York, quite obviously, does not make the list. See who does after the jump.
