Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Rock of Love fans will be disappointed to learn that Bret Michaels has settled down and cleaned up his act. Just kidding! He's still living the dream, wearing makeup, and churning out plenty of cuckoo-crazy quotes. Like this, for example, on the subject of the Pet's Rock line of pet clothing and accessories he has designed for PetSmart:

"I'm a drealist," he told People magazine. "I'm a dreamer with a creative brain, but I'm also a realist."

From what we gather, that means in Brett's world, just because something sounds like a great idea doesn't mean it's going to work. Cowboy hats for dogs, for example: Genius, yes. Practical, less so. But drealists don't give up easy. "It's in the making right now! I just have to figure out how to get it around the ears."

The rest of the collection, in Michaels' words, "is all stuff I created from my brain." The fruits of his labor include doggie doo-rags, vinyl boots, and a tour bus toy complete with a mini security guard and fan, among other things, all of which you can browse right here.
