Welcome to Racked's Shopping Cart Comparisons, a new column that investigates how far a $300 budget will stretch at three different stores. In light of the summer sales that are amping up this week, our inaugural post takes a look at what you can get at two fast-fashion favorites, Zara and Uniqlo, vs. a haul from high-end department store with Barneys. Have a look below.

You know the drill: Zara will get you a trend specific outfit, UNIQLO is good for the pack-your-closet-to-the-brim-with-basics (especially good for heading back to campus or starting a new job), and Barneys offers a well curated closet some distinction.
