This week we bring you to the New York offices of PR gurus Wetherly Fashion Group. With clients including some of our favorite contemporary brands—J Brand, Soludos, and BaubleBar, to name a few—plus a focus on red carpet events, the Wetherly team's expertise runs the high-low gamut. This is how they work it when they're working.
Kara Yuswack, East Coast Director: My style is classic all the way. Give me a great fitting pair of dark wash skinny jeans and the perfect grey or black t-shirt, and I’m one happy girl.
Style advice: Don’t purchase or try to mix in too many of-the-moment trend pieces when getting dressed for ANY occasion, except maybe a costume party. A well-edited closet filled with pieces you want to wear season after season is much better than having to make room for more neon every other week.
Kara is wearing a Feel The Piece sweater, Monrow tank, Piamita pants, Loeffler Randall sandals, Mulberry bag, and jewelry by Ippolita, Helen Ficalora, Michael Kors, Miansai, Fenton, Jennifer Zeuner, and Anita Ko.
Juliette Schwab, Account Executive: My personal style is classic with an edge. I like to dress myself in staple pieces, accented with bold accessories. Working in accessories has taught me you can wear jeans and a tee or a classic black dress and completely change it up with adding in some amazing, accessories—specifically, WRIST CANDY!!
Style advice: Don’t be afraid to stand out. I am all about mixing and matching—wearing a casual outfit and really jazzing it up with something bold, whether that be a statement piece of jewelry, bag, or shoes. Accessorize! I would invest in purchasing a couple of amazing accessories that will last season after season.
Juliette is wearing J Brand jeans, a Piamita top, Helmut Lang vest, YSL shoes, and BaubleBar and Ippolita jewelry.
Lauren Nagler, Managing Director: My style is eclectic and depends on my mood and plans for the day. I gravitate towards transitional outfits that serve two purposes: professional and personal. I start with picking one item I have in mind and I build an outfit from there. I am just as comfortable in skinny jeans and Louboutins as I am in maxi-skirts and Soludos. I do wear a lot of black, but as soon as it is nice out I like to add color. Right now I am living in J Brand's colored denim. I love to mix high- and low-end pieces. I always over accessorize with jewelry, and my grandfather's pocket watch from the 1930s that I turned into a necklace is a layering staple.
Style advice: If you see a piece that you are absolutely in love with but may be out of your budget, consider looking at it as an investment that you will wear for years. You may miss a rent check, but you will look good begging your landlord for an extension.
Lauren is wearing an Isabel Marant blazer, J Brand denim, Aldo shoes, Nation LTD white t-shirt, IPPOLITA gold studs and ring, Anita Ko rose gold panther bracelet, her grandfather’s pocket watch as a necklace, and a Be & D bag.
Nathan Kovach, Senior Account Executive: I think my style is fairly eclectic. I tend to mix timeless, well-tailored pieces, with more contemporary items.
Style advice: Tailoring is crucial. The right break on a pant cuff or the proper placement of the sleeve hole on shirting and outerwear can make or break an outfit. But probably most importantly, smile—New Yorkers don’t do it enough.
Nathan is wearing a shirt by Thom Browne, jeans by J Brand, shoes by Sperry.
Athena Georgiadis, Digital Manager: My style can be described as classic and chic but always with an edgy twist. When I get dressed I like to choose pieces that take me through the whole day. Layering is my key to creating a transitional look that works for all occasions: A basic silk cami under a cropped leather jacket and pair of skinny jeans is my go-to outfit. One item I could never part with? A pair of sky-high stilettos, the higher the better. I live for a five-inch heel.
Style advice: I am huge advocate of mixing highs and lows. My seasonal investments are in designer handbags and shoes. You can wear a simple black dress and let the accessories speak for themselves. You don’t have to spend a fortune to look and feel like a fortune. Also, style advice goes beyond clothing: you can wear couture from head to toe but if your hair and nails aren’t on point your whole look is over. There’s nothing worse than a woman with a chipped mani. My favorite look is seasonless: minimal make-up and classic diamond stud earrings to give a little pop to your face. Let your personality do the talking!
Athena is wearing a Naven blazer, Monrow tank, J Brand jeans, Christian Louboutin shoes, a cuff by Louis Vuitton, rose gold bangles and necklace from Ippolita, and neon bracelets from BaubleBar.
