Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Before there was shopping on the internet, there was shopping on the TV, and no one does that better than QVC. Of course, even the cable stalwart has joined the internet generation, which mean that the Butter London nail polish set they debuted on Friday night are available right here.
This is a first for the high-end polish brand, and so far, they're keeping their lineup small. The only items available via QVC are a basecoat/polish/topcoat trio with two polish color options: Trout Pout (cantaloupe) and Yummy Mummy (a creamy nude, pictured), though more options are scheduled for release later in the summer.
Of course, small is scale doesn't mean small in concept. Deborah Lippmann, has been the reigning queen of home shopping nail polish over on the Home Shopping Network for some time now, having created best-selling limited-edition polishes inspired by movies like Snow White and the Huntsman and Footloose, and her presence on the network is well-established. Are QVC and Butter trying to steal her crown?
If there is going to be a nail polish face-off in the near future, we want a front row seat.
