Comedy writer Bonnie Datt once bought a chainmail vest "for clubbing"—a purchase she later came to lament, once she realized that chainmail wasn't particularly slimming. Inspired by this, she now spends her spare time asking famous people to dish about purchases which they initially loved—but ended up regretting, for Buyer's Remorse.
In honor of the new season of Project Runway, which kicks off this Thursday, we've got a special Buyer's Remorse subject—Casanova! Always entertaining, the Puerto Rican-born designer from Season 8 is one of our all time favorites. Here, the native Spanish speaker shares with us the details of a designer splurge gone wrong.
Racked: Tell us about a time you've had Buyer's Remorse.
Casanova: Last year when I got my rewards from Chase Bank, I got like seven hundred dollars and I had nothing to do with it—well, of course you have things to do with your money, but...
Racked: This was like credit card points?
Casanova: Yes, but I get cash. And I get a pair of shoes from John Galliano. They're like very splashy with sparkles, black patent leather, I never wear them and I pay, like, 675 dollars.
Racked: Why didn't you wear them?
Casanova: Sometimes they are too loud for the event that I'm going to.
Which pretty much says it all.
