Welcome to Racked's Shopping Cart Comparisons, a column that investigates how far a budget will stretch at three different stores on any given week. In light of the summer sales still going strong this week, this post takes a look at what you can get only in the sale section at J.Crew, Ralph Lauren, and Tory Burch. Have a look below.

While daydreaming today about what it would be like to get out of the city and onto a boat somewhere (clearly the heat is getting to us), our thoughts landed on "But what would we wear??" As they are wont to do. So for today's Comparisons, we turned to some of our favorite American retailers of the preppy persuasion. And since country club style doesn't always come with country club credit, we took to the sale section like white on tennis skirts. The results might not be seaworthy, but the heart is in the right place price.
