Helmut Lang and LD Tuttle Launch 'Game of Thrones'-Inspired Shoe Capsule

New, 3 comments

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Sometimes press releases are very boring. And then sometimes, they say things like this:

"Inspired by the HBO series Game of Thrones, Helmut Lang designers Nicole and Michael Colovos looked to the rangers of the Night's Watch, a rugged band of soldiers sworn to guard the northern border between the kingdoms of men and the haunted forest."

The rangers of the night's watch, you say?

Yep, those are the ones.

With that as a jumping off point, it's no shocker that Helmut Lang's fall collection is all laser cut leather, ponyhair, and goat fur. And Tiffany Tuttle (of LD Tuttle fame) stayed in the fantasy-warrior realm for her first shoe capsule with the brand. If you're having a hard time imagining what that might look like, think wedges and boots in rubbed suede, stingray, and prints inspired by the "flora and fauna of the mystical forest."

"I strove to design footwear for the Helmut Lang collection that was powerful but understated, allowing the materials to create beautiful shapes on their own," said Tuttle. Check them out below, or shop them here.
