Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, and The Spice Girls: The Greatest 3 Fashion Moments of the Closing Ceremony

New, 4 comments

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Saying farewell to the Olympics means many things: Gone is a socially acceptable reason to camp out in front of the TV until you collapse from bloodshot eyes and patriotic fervor. Ditto for following Ryan Lochte's Twitter. And you may now forget everything you just learned about gymnastic vault scoring.

So since today is probably the last day anyone's going to let you wax poetic on anything Olympic-related, you should get to rehashing. And here's some fodder: the best fashion moments from last night's bedazzled Closing Ceremonies, via Twitter pics. Head after the jump to see them all.

Kate Moss stunned in a dress by Alexander McQueen
3. She's one of the most recognizable British faces and she brought it. Lots of it.

Lily Cole (Erdem), Stella Tennant (Christopher Kane), Karen Elson (Burberry), Kate Moss (McQueen), Lily Donaldson (Vivienne Westwood), Naomi Campbell (McQueen), Georgia May Jagger (Victoria Beckham), Jourdan Dunn (Jonathan Saunders and Stephen Jones), David Gandy (Paul Smith)

2. Ok, here's what happened: Nick Knight shot some billboards bedecked with British supermodels bedazzled in golden British labels. THEN the billboards were torn down while David Bowie's Fashion drove home the point (fashion's important, y'all) and out strut the models themselves. AND THEN they do the runway thing on a Union Jack-shaped catwalk, while some pretty terrifying foot soldiers in all black formed an Alexander McQueen skull shape. Anyone else suffering from icon overdose?

1. And now for the gratuitous pictures of Victoria Beckham getting ready for the Spice Girl's performance, as posted by @VictoriaBeckham:
