Welcome to the latest edition of Working It, where Racked takes street style to the next level—the office. The litmus test of the true style-savvy is how she (or he) rocks a look on any old day to work. Forget the pedestrian khakis and buttondowns—these fashionable professionals take the office dress code to a whole other dimension. Quick, somebody call HR!
Today we take you to the Manhattan offices of C. Wonder, the apparel and home decor brand that's most likely brightening up a wardrobe near you as we speak. The company is all about a cheerful aesthetic and inspirational vibe, and that attitude comes across in the playful, professional office looks the C.Wonder team puts together on a daily basis. Here's how they work it when they're working.
Natalia Del Rivero, Graphic Designer: My style is classic, comfortable, and timeless. Looking elegant and feeling good in my clothes is essential to my daily life. I love adding a twist to a classic look by layering in interesting pieces from my travels, like my silver thread bracelet from Sweden or my elephant-hair ring from South Africa. It's all about adding fun trinkets!
Style advice: Always have one good pair of jeans and a leather jacket—the rest is up to you. You look your best when you feel like yourself!
Natalia is wearing a C. Wonder cheetah-print cardigan, Zara silk blouse, HOSS intropia palazzo trousers, Max Azria strappy pumps, C. wonder leather inset chunky ring, Hermes Kelly double tour leather bracelet, ABC Carpet and Home gold dog bone bracelet, Elma bLINT bracelet, Cartier Santos watch, C. Wonder calf hair stud cuff bracelet.
Eliza Higgins, Associate Merchant: My style is energetic fashion—unexpected and eccentric with vintage flair. I like to take a somewhat classic look and brighten it up with bold colors and rough it up with some serious jewelry.
Style advice: I always try to mix and match old with new, highs with lows, graphic prints with interesting textures, and so on for a bold but polished feel. The best style advice that I have ever been given is "don't be afraid to push the envelope."
Eliza is wearing a C. Wonder cheetah print silk shirt, C. Wonder rib tank, J. Brand black waxed jeans, C. Wonder black reversible belt strap, C. Wonder gator belt buckle, Monika Chiang croc mohawk pumps, C. Wonder gold love knot earrings, Belliza Knight gold lucky number medallion, Belliza Knight gold quartz smoky dagger, Yves Saint Laurent ring, Belliza Knight friendship bracelets, Noir CZ Bracelet, ABC Carpet and Home red bead friendship bracelet, C. Wonder gold pyramid stud cuff, Belliza Knight rings, C. Wonder leopard calf hair skinny cuff, Belliza Knight perfect ID bracelet, Vintage gold braided bracelet, Belliza Knight mesh spike bracelet, C. Wonder black/gold saffiano and chain double wrap bracelet, and a Rolex watch.
Doreen Wang, PR Assistant: My style is my passport to any city around the world. I truly believe in injecting my personality of sweet and sassy into my looks, which range from NYC downtown cool to Parisian chic, to keep them unique.
Style advice: My advice is to wear what feels right, especially when it comes to comfort. If you can work in fabulous four-inch heels, go for it. Have fun with your pieces and do something crazy and unexpected! Remember: never say never.
Doreen is wearing a C. Wonder camel crewneck sweater, Monika Chiang signature tank, ALTUZARRA tropical striped pants, Giuseppe Zanotti T-strap pumps, Monika Chiang gold large tribal link necklace and signet ring, C. Wonder gold bamboo ring set, Michele watch, C. Wonder gold nautical knots bangles, In God We Trust brass tiara bangle, Giles & Brother brass double duff, C. Wonder gold skinny cuff with screw studs.
Katie Byrnes, Executive Assistant: I would classify my style as preppy chic. I like to wear classic, fitted styles and accessorize with shoes and jewelry to add a little glam-factor.
Style advice: The most important thing to remember while getting dressed is how the outfit will make YOU feel, from comfort to confidence. It is important to consider versatile pieces that will allow for a smooth and easy transition from the office to a social after-work setting. It is also helpful in more ways than one to have pieces and accessories that are easy to mix and match to create your signature looks.
Katie is wearing a C. Wonder lake printed trim stripe shirt; C. Wonder white stretch skinny jeans; Boutique 9 wedges; C. Wonder gold braided bangle, white signature enamel bangle, and retro rope necklace; Hermes enamel printed bracelets, and a Toy watch.
Octavia Obolensky, Merchandise Coordinator: My personal style changes all the time. I love a great classic look but I also tend to go very grunge or bohemian depending on my mood or the time of year. It also depends a lot on the kind of music I'm really into at the moment. I'm pretty low key on the weekends—I live in soft tees and denim—but around the office it's fun to go crazy with accessories and color. I have key staples in my wardrobe that are classic and timeless but I love a great bargain or sick vintage item. My sister is incredible at finding amazing vintage pieces so I get a lot of inspiration from her in that department.
Style advice: Know yourself. If you know you won't be comfortable in spiky heels or a mini skirt then don't go there. Confidence makes any outfit look a million times better.
Octavia is wearing a C. Wonder tank; Ralph Lauren Black Label blazer; C. Wonder jade ikat zip cuff cropped jean; C. Wonder neon yellow saffiano leather super skinny belt; C. Wonder nude patent leather platform pumps; Belliza Knight neon yellow vintage pearl drop bib necklace; Tiffany & Co. necklace; C. Wonder neon yellow square bling studs; Cartier Ballon Bleu watch; C.
