At her Spring 2013 show yesterday, Victoria Beckham went where she has never gone before: She sent her models stomping down the runway in masculine brogues designed by Manolo Blahnik. Those are flats, everybody. Flats. Blahnik of course voiced his approval of the choice, saying, "I am very happy that [Beckham] used flat shoes and I think it is very refreshing and elegant to wear boyish flats with dresses. She loved the classic men's brogues that we do, so we created a women's version for her." That makes at least one happy camper, and bets are pretty good that the models were also pleased by the decision (those girls deserve an unexpected breather from sky-high stilts at least once this week).
