One of the great things about Fashion Week is that it gives us a chance to catch up on what some of the Project Runway alumni are doing. This time around, HP sponsored a party at Morimoto restaurant and gave us a sneak peek at the Spring 2013 collection of Season Nine winner Anya Ayoung Chee.
The Trinidad and Tobago-born designer's small Carnival of Colour collection is her first since Project Runway. Not surprisingly, it continues Anya's journey into tropically influenced designs, but unlike her Project Runway pieces of yore, this collection includes a couple of blazers. Yes, Anya, who is now a New Yorker—and dealing with colder weather—is making sleeves!
On Project Runway, Anya became known for designing garments with bold prints, and this collection is no exception. It includes many colorful patterns. In a tribute to it, and to tonight's "HP Design Your Own Print" challenge on Project Runway, guests at the party got to use the HP TouchSmart technology to design our own prints. While we have nothing on the talents of Anya or Mondo, we confess, it was just as fun as it looks on television. Check in tomorrow for our Project Runway recap.
