Lana Del Rey, H&M, and...David Lynch? Weird.

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Is H&M attempting to get the word out to a different, darker, (dare we say) artier crowd these days with Lana Del Rey at the helm? In the latest television spot, which apparently debuted overseas considering the language noting the cost of clothes is not English (deductive reasoning!), LDR is giving us major Lynchian vibes. Exhibits A through F: The commercial incorporates creepy scenery, dark humor, surreal characters, choppy cuts, and actual little person a la The Man from Another Place in Twin Peaks. Oh yeah, and she's singing "Blue Velvet."
